CALL TO ARMS VIDEO! (1 MIN LONG).
Our talented and hard-working video editing team have created a new video, a CALL TO ARMS video for the 28th February demonstration, WATCH IT NOW and do please spread the word about it!
UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DEMO THIS SATURDAY – Golden Square – Ace Cafe – Ally Pally Show.
The demo this weekend is approaching, this is a reminder…BE THERE, IT IS GOING TO BE A LOAD OF FUN! The demo is going to start at 10am from Golden Square (if you want to get their slightly earlier, please do!) We will be leaving Golden Square at approx 10:30am en route to the Ace Cafe where we will stop for lunch and pick up more supporters, then we will depart the Ace around 12:30pm, we will be heading for the Ally Pally Motorcycle Show.
KEY MOMENT IN THE DEMO! We will be alerting Westminster Retailers, we have a prop for you below which we ask you to print out (4 copies should suffice) and bring with you on Saturday. We will be riding out of Golden Square, up Regent Street and along Oxford Street the plan will be announced on Saturday, once full logistics in place. The message will be clearly aimed at the businesses of Westminster explaining to them why we are protesting and how Westminster (Danny Chalkley) is affecting them.
Once we have completed the task in hand we will then proceed in a mass group (as we have previously done) to the Ace Cafe for a well-earned lunch! After which we re-group for a ride to the Ally Pally show, where the campaign will have it’s very own dedicated stand!! (A first!) So please come and say hello, big thanks to one of our avid supporters for arranging this and to the organisers of the Ally Pally show for providing us with it. It will be adorned with photos and messages from our previous demos, the stand will be there to build up the numbers for the upcoming "MEGA DEMO" on 31st March 2009 (Trafalgar Sq/Whitehall), full details will follow this Sat demo, any help on the stand from you would be appreciated, for Saturday afternoon and the Sunday (if possible!) contact us if you feel like it. [FULL DEMO DETAILS INCLUDING PROPOSED ROUTE MAP AND ETA]
YOUR PROP FOR THIS WEEKENDS DEMO, DOWNLOAD, PRINT!
So this is what we need to you to download, print off and bring along with you if you cannot we will have copies on the day to give to people. Download "RETAILERS OF WESTMINSTER!" poster (PDF).
WESTMINSTER HAVE UPDATED THE "MOTORCYCLE PARKING" SECTION OF THEIR WEBSITE.
We have been following the Westminster Council’s "Motorcycle Parking" section recently, Westminster have made some clear changes to it, one of which is controversial and clearly shows something was wrong with what they were stating regarding "extensive dialogue" and "consultation", something fishy is in the air at Westminster City Hall. For a full article on what happened please read: "BMF, MAG and Motorcycle Parking have all issued statements refuting Westminster Council and Danny Chalkley’s claims.".
Another update was made on 25th Feb 2009, a new section was added called "What happens next?" in which they state: "The period to submit objections to the scheme finished on 18th February 2009. These objections are currently being reviewed by Westminster City Council and in addition to this there will be a discussion regarding the scheme at Policy and Scrutiny. Following this recommendations will be made in early April."
Are they again moving the goal posts around? We do remember Danny Chalkley clearly saying at the all the FULL Council meeting on 28th Jan 2009: "I have said from the outset that the policy has been introduced on an experimental basis. It will be subject to review next month and all of the feedback, positive and the negative including the comments that have been made by Paul this evening and all the various people up in the gallery will be taken into account and I expect to be in a position to announce the outcome of the review early in March, thank you." ~ Danny Chalkley – [Source] SO THIS IS AN UNTRUE FROM DANNY, AGAIN. The longer they leave it the more money they are raking in… the worse for them, they should start listening to the people, they have their work cut out… how many objections did they receive? A little bird tells us over 3000!
But it looks like from that message, that they are going to hold off until after the demonstration on March 31st, we need to show them their parking tax is NOT WANTED, if they are not going to stick to their initial words. "MEGA DEMO" 31st March 2009, clear your diaries!
CAMPAIGN SONG – MODERN ROMANCE – PARKING (NO NO NO…)
In other news… We have heard that the song is being played on numerous radio stations across the UK, if you have yet to hear it go here and listen, download, lyrics are also available, please brush up on your singing in preparation for Saturday since we are planning to shoot a video! Oh and remember, if you can please record yourself (web cam, mobile phone cam, whatever!) singing the song (especially the chorus) then send it in to us at media@notobikeparkingfees.com we will use the footage in the video. THANKS!
<<First Name>>, hope to see you this weekend, hey the weather is looking good too!!
